Outstanding for what it was designed for September 3, 2008 I started with balck & Decker's 18v hedge trimmer & fell in love with cordless. Added the chainsaw to trim a hedge and cut off dead limbs of trees around the home. Works excelent for these purposes. Added a one-hour charger to enable cutting with one battery when the other is charging; will last about two beers on a standard charge ;-) Highly recommed B&D's 18 volt cordless tools. The hedge trimmer is the first one to pick up, the lawn string trimmer/edger is second (can edge the driveway in 3-5 minutes [actual](vs. 20-30 or so for the corded unit.) Nice to use an string trimmer/edger without having to constantly bump the unit to advance the string. Works like a charm. Both of these are five stars, the chainsaw gets four because of the oil feed doesn't work worth a crap. Leaks oil all over the floor, store it with a rag wrapped around rthe unit to catch the oil. (If it wasn't for this it would be five stars). I started using a plastic 3-in-one dispenser and oil the chain directly when using - too much a mess to empty the reservoir before storing. Also have the cordless blower, make blowing out the garage and driveway a breeze (also recommended at four stars; would have given five if it could have been configured as a vaccum.)
well worth the money September 2, 2008 This product is amazing. I have cleared small trees in the past using hand tools because I was to lazy to bring out the big chainsaw, what a waste of time. The B & D chainsaw is extremely light and easy to use. Wish I had it years ago.
Love my "girl saw"! August 14, 2008 I love my "girl saw" as I call it. It works great cutting down small saplings or cutting up downed brush. I tried trimming tree branches but the branches shake so much that it makes a bad cut for a living tree (unless it is a strong apple or ceder etc). There are a few downfalls. It does leak oil when you set it down and the chain needs frequent tightening. Over all - SWEET.
Not Bad Overall August 11, 2008 The saw actually cuts pretty well, more power and battery life than I expected. The assembly instructions are a NIGHTMARE, only 3 pages out of a wad of over 50 were any help and those not much. Attaching the blade is tricky and could even be dangerous. Its a nice small quiet saw though.

i recently purchased the b&d cordless chain saw and put it to major use on my wooded property in canada. though i was reluctant about the purchase, after reading some of the more critical reviews, i could not be happier: relatively powerful, easy to handle, no smell, no noise! and while i thought the short chain would be a problem, i have found ways to even fell trees with a larger diameter. a great saw and for so little money! (ps: it helps to have two batteries if you have a bigger job and don't want to wait while the bettery is recharging).
